01. THE CHALLENGE
The nice thing about this project was that the owner had bought the house completely empty and really everything from the spoons to the beds had to be bought. The house had a slightly old-fashioned appearance due to the light pink / red floor, the brown beams and the cream-colored walls. By painting the walls in the brightest white color and using light furnishings, a very modern and contemporary look has been created with minimal investment in the structure of the house.
The owner gave a lot of freedom for the selection of furniture, which made it a very nice project to carry out. The biggest challenge in this project was the living room. This was quite small compared to the rest of the house and L-shaped so that it was difficult to create a good seating area for at least 6 people. This has been solved by creating a separate TV room with a spacious modular sofa. In the living room there was room for a large 4-seater sofa and 2 classic armchairs.
Below the result of this complete makeover:

02. THE STYLE
In this project a Scandinavian style was chosen and I used light colors but warmth and cosiness in the fabrics and decoration. The interior has a touch of Africa as this is the owner’s favorite holiday country and they liked to see that reflected in the details.
For the interior of the house we have chosen a color palette based on natural ton-sur-ton colors such as white, beige/ecru, olive green and an accent of terracotta and green in the small decoration such as cushions or blankets, etc. The shutters outside are also olive green and stucco walls outside salmon pink, resulting in a good connection between inside and outside, making the house one unit.
Assumptions:
- Natural materials, light colours
- Personal art selected by the owner
- Good connection between inside and outside
- Good quality furniture and materials.
03. THE RESULT
The result is a beautiful home with a dream garden where everyone would like to spend their holidays. We have used quality furniture that can take a beating, because the house is also rented out via Q Home, so it is rental-proof and each room still has its own personal atmosphere. There are 2 master bedrooms, 2 children’s rooms and a TV room that can be used as a 5th bedroom.
